The Master of Seeking Forgiveness (Sayyid al-Istighfar)

Morning and evening; the greatest supplication of seeking forgiveness

Sahih al-Bukhari

Transliteration

Meaning

O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no deity worthy of worship except You. You created me and I am Your servant. I am upon Your covenant and Your promise as best I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favours upon me and I acknowledge my sin. Forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.

Virtue

The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Whoever says this in the morning with firm belief, and dies that day before the evening, he will be among the people of Paradise. And whoever says it in the evening with firm belief, and dies that night before the morning, he will be among the people of Paradise.'
