Also known as Ha Mim As-Sajdah, Fussilat takes its name from the Quran's own description of itself as a book "explained in detail" (41:3). The surah presents the message of monotheism to an audience that has been thoroughly warned: those who believe will find healing and mercy, while those who turn away will be faced with divine testimony from their own limbs on the Day of Judgement. The surah contains one of the most important descriptions of the Quran as a self-evident proof and the divine promise to show signs in the universe and within themselves.
أسباب النزول
Reported to have been revealed when the Prophet recited its opening verses to Utbah ibn Rabi'ah, one of the senior Qurayshi leaders, who came to negotiate with him. As Utbah listened, he was so struck by the recitation that he returned to his companions and advised them not to interfere with Muhammad. The incident illustrated the Quran's inherent power to affect even the most resistant hearts.
“Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is Allah," and then remained steadfast – the angels will descend upon them.”
A celebrated verse on istiqamah (steadfastness) and the angelic assurance given to those who combine belief with consistent practice, promising them tranquillity in this life and the next.
“We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth.”
A forward-looking verse promising that the external universe and the human interior will both yield ever-clearer evidence of divine truth – often cited in the context of scientific inquiry and self-reflection.
