Surah Ta-Ha opens with the mysterious letters "Ta-Ha" and addresses the Prophet consolingly, telling him he was not sent the Quran to burden him but as a reminder. The surah then narrates the story of Musa in considerable detail, from the Burning Bush and his mission to Pharaoh, through the crossing of the sea, to the incident of the golden calf in the wilderness. It closes with the story of Adam, Iblis, and the consequences of disobedience.

According to a well-known narration, this surah was being recited by Khabbab ibn Al-Aratt in his home when Umar ibn Al-Khattab heard it through the door. The surah's beauty caused Umar to weep and he immediately went to accept Islam. This account is cited by many classical scholars as evidence of the Quran's power to transform hearts. The surah was revealed to encourage the Prophet and to explain the nature of his mission.
“Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.”
The words Allah spoke directly to Musa at the Burning Bush, the first revelation to Musa. This verse is the most direct statement of tawhid (monotheism) in the Quran, delivered at the moment of the first prophetic encounter.
